My favorite hobby is reading, especially Spanish literature.

About Me

I am a graduate student at Cal State LA, studying for my Masters degree in Spanish Literature. I am bilingual and fluent in Spanish, English, and speak fair Italian. I obtained my Bachelors degree from CSU Dominguez Hills in Spanish Literature in 2012. I graduated with honors with a GPA of 3.5. My plans are to finish my Masters degree to work as a college professor while I continue to study for my Ph D. Also, I am a member of Sigma Pi Honor Society.

I have dedicated to my career as a full time student where I have gained experience volunteering in some of my classes. Also, I have worked as a babysitter with children of different ages where I have learned to interact and understand their way of learning. I find it extremely interesting the capacity that children have to learn a different language with ease. Moreover, I have some experience as an instructional assistant in a Spanish Literature Class tutoring students at a high school level. I look forward to having the opportunity to work as a tutor for a recognize organization as yours in order to get more experience and train for my future career.

I have always wanted to be a teacher. I believe that teaching should be a passion and not just a job. In all of my classes I have learned the different methods of teaching, comparing the ones that I think are more effective to the ones that do not seem to work very well. While some professors sit in front of the class and just lecture, I find more effective doing different activities and being more creative. In the case of teaching a language, I think that one of the best ways is 'total immersion' where the teacher tries to speak only the language to be taught, have the students participate, and relate the lessons with examples of daily activities. Moreover, it is important to give positive encouragement and motivate the students as they progress in learning the subject.
