Fun Facts
Anyone who knows me well knows that I have always loved to sing and dance. Besides performing, I enjoy being healthy and active on a daily basis. I also have an extremely multicultural experience: I was born in Nigeria, West Africa, where I grew up, I spent a year traveling Europe, and plan to do much more traveling in the future.
About Me
I am a senior at The Ohio State University pursuing a dual degree in Psychology and Early Childhood Education. I have been on the Dean's List for 4 years and have been doing research on reading-comprehension/ohio/columbus">reading comprehension in preschoolers. I have presented this research at multiple conferences and won awards as well. I plan to move to Hong Kong and be an English teacher at a Primary school after I graduate. My next goal is to attend graduate school to obtain my Masters in School Psychology.
Throughout high school, I babysat for numerous families with children enrolled in school. One of the main aspects of those jobs was to help them with their schoolwork. I learned to be patient with the children and become familiar with different learning styles. I was also an au pair for one year in Germany and tutored an 8 and 10 year old throughout their 3rd and 6th grade years. The lessons I learned about teaching this year are invaluable.
My columbus">tutoring method is all about the student. I think the most important thing that a columbus">tutor should do is listen to the student and understand what he or she needs to learn. Firstly, get to know them and figure out their learning style and tailor your teaching with that in mind. It is important to be creative and willing to try different methods to see what works best for the individual. I will never tell your student what the correct answer is to a problem, but instead guide them to the answer by asking them questions that get them to think critically.
