Fun Facts

I am Colombian, born and raised. I thoroughly love soccer and everything related to it, from playing it on the field to playing it virtually and judging teams. I have served as a referee while I lived in Colombia. I also enjoy dancing to latin music and writing poetry; I have tried to do it in English and I'm improving my English poetry little by little!

About Me

I am a freshman at Columbia University majoring in Biomedical Engineering in the pre-med track. Before coming to Columbia I spent a year taking classes at Florida Atlantic University (dual enrolled while I was in High School). I hope to join the Vaguelos college of Physicians which is Columbia's med school in order to become an Orthopedist.

Experience

I have tutored with National Honor Society to other high schoolers in the areas listed above. Moreover, I have experience teaching low-income students from Colombia, as I volunteered there to teach children the basics of writing, reading and math skills. Lastly, I currently volunteer by tutoring rising seniors with their college application and essays.

Approach

I was fortunate enough to have two teachers in my household (my parents). Through their techniques and by going to their classes I learned many strategies that I have employed effectively in the past. Moreover, my desire of learning traduces in passion for my subjects, easing the process of teaching to students that are not as motivated. Lastly, as a tutor, I try to make the subject relevant to the student's life and take concepts out of the classroom.
