Fun Facts

I love learning more than anything else! I think discovering odd or unintuitive facts about the world around us can provide us with some of the most wondrous moments in our life. I see this when I am genetically modifying flies in my research lab, when I traveled to India on a project to study ethics in the education system, or any other time I have a teacher that cares about his/her subject!

About Me

I am a freshman attending The washington-university">George washington-university">Washington University. Previously, I graduated Valedictorian from my high school in California. I am on the path to double major in Math and Psychology, with concentrations in Pure Math and Cognitive Neuroscience. I may also throw in a philosophy minor. I also love doing research in the fly lab, and I hope to continue doing research. After I graduate, graduate school will be in my future, but I will get some “real-world” experience first. I received a 4.0 GPA for my first semester!

I started helping my friends with their homework starting in my freshman year of high school. Eventually, that led to being paid for my washington-dc">tutoring in AP Calculus AB/BC, AP Physics, and for all components of the SAT. Last summer, I tutored a boy who was switching to a more advanced private school. I quickly learned that despite taking the same classes as his future classmates, he was much farther behind than anyone had realized. I worked with him all summer to find a curriculum that worked for him, and, when I left for college, I helped his family and connected with his future teachers to come up with a plan to continue to get supplementary help outside of the classroom.

I quickly learned from washington-dc">tutoring friends that the best approach was one of understanding and patience. I want all the people that I washington-dc">tutor to feel comfortable with the style and pace that they learn new concepts. I would rather the student reach a place where they truly understand and grasp the concept, than just be able to do the problem set. I want to share how exciting and fun a subject or idea can be, and that part can often be skipped over in class if the student is still trying to understand the mechanics of the problem. Over all, at the end of the day, I want my students to be comfortable with their pace and to have gained greater understanding of the subject as a whole.
