Fun Facts

I was born in Minnesota but grew up in Beijing, China. So, English is my second language. I have recently picked up boxing and kickboxing and I absolutely love it! I am a big fan of NBA, and I am so glad that the Warriors won the championship this year. Music and movies are also my interests, and sports movies are what first got me interested in boxing. And of course I enjoy all kinds of food, but I only know how to cook theoretically.

About Me

I am a recent graduate of washington-university">George washington-university">Washington University (GWU), majoring in math and minoring criminal justice and logic. Though I really enjoy science, I am also interested in law. This is why I am currently enrolled in the Paralegal Program here at GWU. I do want to further pursue math in the future, but I don't want to miss out opportunities that may help develop my interests and skills. I am not certain about what I want to do as a profession, but I do believe there are many options presented to anyone, and with passion and effort, the goal can always be achieved. This is why I like to take chances and try different things to challenge myself and push my limits.

I do not have much washington-dc">tutoring experience. But I do like to ask questions and discuss problems with my professors or peers, and would love to share my thoughts, ideas, and solutions with others. I often participate in study groups, where I help others with subjects they have problems with and discuss homework. In high school, a lot of my classmates would ask me, and sometimes call me at home to ask me, how to solve certain problems. They helped me get comfortable with explaining subjects to others and helped me understand the problems more thoroughly.

I think it is extremely important to ask questions, not only about the materials that one do not understand, but also about what would happen if one changes some factor, which may lead to another case or situation. This helps one understand the material more thoroughly and become more proficient in applying the knowledge. Understanding the solution to a certain example is crucial, but it is more crucial to understand why one needs to do this, how one comes up with the approach, how each steps connects to one another, and so on. If I were to washington-dc">tutor, I would encourage the clients to think about these questions and learn how to learn instead of simply seeing studying as a tool for tests.
