Fun Facts
Fun fact about me is that I love to snowboard at Mt. Hood Meadows and Timberline ski resorts. On the weekends you will either find me studying or watching American football.
About Me
I am a senior status post-baccalaureate student at Portland State University pursuing a double major in electrical engineering and physics. I previously received a liberal arts degree in rhetoric and media studies from Lewis & Clark College. My ultimate education goal is to get a masters degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University. This past summer I had the pleasure of being a software engineering intern at NASA Ames Research Center.
Experience
While I was a junior in my electrical engineering program at Portland State University, I was a part-time tutor helping students succeed in both electrical and computer engineering. Helping others get excited about learning is incredibly fulfilling.
Approach
Learning has always taken me a little bit longer than some of my peers. I would often give up due to lack of understanding the material and then getting behind. I have found that a positive attitude, creating a plan, and making sure the student leaves the tutoring session with confidence is the best approach. From my experience in the past, the tutor may understand the material and do all the work, but I want to make sure the student has a full grasp of the material prior to leaving the session.
