Fun Facts
I enjoy hiking, camping, and target archery. I have hiked the Grand Canyon, and camped in many national forests. I used to go downhill skiing and would like to do so again. Right now I am looking into the possibility of cross-country skiing this winter (if appropriate snowfall).
About Me
I have a unique combination of skills and capabilities that I use to teach students and manage the timelines and needs of each student. I developed my own reference images, exemplars, and tools to show students the most practical methods for learning content.
Experience
I am a certified chemistry teacher and I have tutored many students (HS, college, grad) of all learning levels over 10+ yrs. Many students were behind pace in their course and overwhelmed when they started working with me. I always get them on pace and feeling confident that they will succeed and earn good grades. I also taught in classrooms 6 yrs.
In my earlier industry career as a professional chemist I invented and developed new polymers. Each of my students holds something I invent
Approach
I identify the student's learning modes, study skills, assess their proficiency and course situation, and identify disconnects and misunderstandings. I immediately address the disconnects and lay out a plan for success. I am able to relate the concepts, in different ways, for the student's frame of reference so they "get it". I provide great reference images/exemplars to lessen the burden of learning. With my commitment to their success, I meet students' needs and relieve parents' worries.
