Fun Facts

I love to dance, especially hip-hop and zumba. I am also a huge nerd when it comes to the television shows 'Friends' and 'Big Bang Theory'; I can quote almost all of the episodes. In addition, I didn't realize it, but I have traveled around to places, such as Nevada, Boston, Korea, Japan, Thailand, and Cambodia. Also, I can make my tongue touch my nose, so if you ever want to see what that looks like, just let me know. :]

About Me

My name is Michelle Chin and I am currently a freshman attending San Francisco State University with a major in Pre-Nursing. This is only my second semester at this university, so my GPA from last semester is 3.44. After receiving enough credits, I plan on applying to the Nursing School at this school as well as other programs across this state, maybe even out of state. But, at this point, I know that I am set on Pre-Nursing.

Ever since my sophomore year of high school, I have had experience tutoring elementary kids as well as adults. Every day after school, I would walk over to the elementary school right next to my school and work on various subjects with kids ranging from kindergarten to 6th grade. Those subjects included, math, reading, and English. In addition, upon entering my senior year, I was given the opportunity to take on two new students: an elementary student who came straight from Korea and a researcher working at UC Davis. I mainly focused on English with these two, but would incorporate other subjects as well.

The first meeting is just to get to know them and observe where they are in English or whatever subject they need help on. I will also introduce myself so that they know how I will go about tutoring them and feel comfortable having me as their tutor. By the end of the lesson, I will talk to both the student and the parents to discuss what/how I will be going over the upcoming chapters and what the student should be mindful of.
