Fun Facts

I absolutely love dogs of all kinds. I usually go out of my way to stop by and say hi! I have a great pyrenese/lab mix named Sarah who is 6 years old and a chocolate labrador retreiver named Mac who is 15 years old. They are the love of my life and I enjoy every moment i am able to spend with them.

About Me

I graduated from the University of Missouri in Kansas City with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Language and Literature. My area of study is Medieval Literature and I have studied both Latin and Old and Middle English as well. I am also a fiction writer, poet, short story writer, and essay writer. I love all literature from all cultures and backgrounds as well as all genres.

Experience

I have worked as both a GTA for UMKC and an adjunct instructor for MCC Maplewoods and Park University. As a GTA at UMKC, I taught speech and writing, with the emphasis on research correlating to students' anchor courses, as well as cultural diversity. At Park University I taught Eng105: Writing Strategies & Concepts, and Eng106: Writing Purposes & Research. I also taught Business Writing and Communications.

Approach

I have an incredible passion for writing. Writing allows one to have a voice to communicate in a larger conversation. I believe that with persistence and perseverance anybody can learn to write better and stronger so that they, too can have a voice. From the beginning of collecting research, through creating the first draft, editing, and into the final draft, I believe all students have what it takes to be excellent writers with patience and practice and I will help every step of the way.
