Fun Facts

I am utterly enchanted with the country Iceland. My infatuation must have started when I was about 15; two of my favorite bands were from the country, and I decided that warranted some casual Google searching. I couldn't believe what I found. Since then I have taken a course on Iceland during the Viking Age (combining my academic curiosity of the Medieval with my recreational passion) and am making arrangements to work on an organic farm there for the Summer after I graduate college.

About Me

I am a third-year undergraduate at Emory University majoring in English. My focus is Medieval English Literature. I am also working on both a Latin and music minor. Next year, I will be applying to graduate programs at universities around the country, and, after I graduate, I hope to pursue a Ph.D in Medieval English (and possibly Scandinavian) Literature.

I atlanta">tutor 7 hours a week at Emory's prestigious Writing Center conducting one-on-one conferences with both undergraduate and graduate clients. We work on all stages of the writing process from literary analysis to brainstorming to concept mapping, drafting, writing, editing, etc. As atlanta">tutors we are formally trained on both a theoretical and practical level to best serve the already brilliant writers of Emory's student body.

Children and teenagers often struggle in school because they can hide in a classroom and consequently get left behind by the teacher and their classmates. The beauty of atlanta">tutoring is that there is no hiding and, more importantly, no need to hide. As a atlanta">tutor, I reinforce the basic concepts of writing about and understanding literature and ensure that every aspect of the material we are working on is absolutely lucid. This means asking plenty of questions and guiding the client -- allowing him or her to lead the way -- rather than leading. Once he or she has a firm grasp of the basics, I impose more advanced methods and concepts so that my tutee will not only succeed by excel.
