Fun Facts
I love English literature so greatly that I named my pet hedgehog "Quillvia Plath." I am a middle child, and have four brothers and sisters. I've always wanted to go to New Zealand to visit the set where they filmed "Lord of the Rings."
About Me
I am a Masters student at Northeastern Illinois University, enrolled in their Linguistics program. I received my BA in English Literature in May, 2014, graduating with GPA of 3.96. My dream career is to work with the tribes and nations of North America on language revitalization projects on such languages as Maricopa, Washo, and Ventureno.
I have been serving as a mentor and community leader to my peers since the age of 16, when I assumed a leadership position on my high school's literary magazine. Since then I have been unofficially mentoring my friends and acquaintances in the areas of writing, reading-comprehension/illinois/chicago">reading comprehension, and American and English literature. These activities were at the focus of my degrees at the College of DuPage, as well as at Northern Illinois University.
In areas such as English and Writing, I prefer to establish a baseline of my client's abilities initially, rather than immediately providing them a scaffolding. Once I have seen their approach, I can asses to what degree they already possess the baseline skills necessary to succeed, and then step-by-step teach them the skills that they lack. Therefore, they can demonstrate what they have already learned and build upon it, rather than being swamped with a whole new approach.
