Fun Facts

I grew up in Texas my entire life--I am actually related to the Father of Texas, Stephen F. Austin. In high school, I was very involved in activities including, tennis, volleyball and cheerleading. In college, I really got into yoga. I initially got started, because I had a lot of knee and back problems, but I soon realized it really helped me manage my stress and add balance to my life. I also enjoy event planning and hosting parties with my friends.

About Me

I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas with a degree in Neuroscience and Psychology. I also minored in political science and was a member of the honors college, Collegium V for my tenure there for which I wrote a thesis on the opiod epidemic. I enjoy using my knowledge gained from my degree and to not only develop people educationally, but personally, as well.

Experience

I had my own tutoring business for 10 years, which began in high school with me tutoring one student and spread by word of mouth from there. During this time, all but one of the students I worked with struggled with a learning difference, mental or emotional disorder. I used my own background as a successful student, who had been diagnosed with ADHD, to tailor curricula for my students to meet their specific need and help them be the best they could be with great success.

Approach

My mother was a lifetime learner and she instilled this value in me from the time I was very young. I got to see my mom develop the future of journalism as a professor of SMU and found it inspiring. She also developed me as I went through my struggles with ADHD. With her help, I achieved my dream of becoming high school valedictorian and getting a full, merit-based ride to college. I believe that anyone can achieve their dreams if there is someone behind them willing to invest in their success.
