Fun Facts

My favorite leisure time activity is to rewatch Harry Potter. Whether I come back through writing or the big screen, Hogwarts will always be my first home. Other than geeking out to Harry Potter, I am usually hiking a moderately dangerous mountain with a friend that thought we were "just going on a walk".

About Me

My name is Michael Helou and I am a recent graduate from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. I graduated with a 3.72 GPA and a bachelor's degree in illustration, while also landing a spot on the Chancellors list for two years in a row! I currently reside in the Boston area and work for a Graphic Design firm.

Experience

During my time at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, I worked as an English tutor for the Writing and Reading Center. The Writing and Reading Center provided me with the opportunity to tutor students every week. Approach

Surprisingly English was not my first language. Therefore, as a child, I struggled greatly with essay writing and reading comprehension. However, by the grace of a few very special teachers, I was given the opportunity to learn English in a way that was best suited for me. As a tutor, my job is to do tailor each session to my client's needs. My tutoring approach uses multimodal writing and reading styles to promote independent thinking.
