Fun Facts

I'm a native Portlander, but have lived in both Spain and London. That being said, I love to travel and learn about new cultures. I hope to travel to Southern Asia sometime soon and explore even more there! Family and friends are very important to me and I like to spend my time being with them, whether its on a fun trip or just hanging around on the sofa.

About Me

I am an Operations and Technology Management (Business) student at the portland">University of Portland, also majoring in Spanish and minoring in Math. I've always been a very technical, numbers oriented person who enjoys analyzing things from all sides. Thus, being a self proclaimed nerd with high standards, I am often found with my face buried in a book or in a professor's office asking questions.

I took several AP classes in High School, so I know what its like to be challenged and the importance of asking for help. Since then, I have been portland">tutoring students off and on for several years and have been an official portland">tutor for the portland">University of Portland for roughly 2 years. I'm comfortable with all age groups - volunteering in adult ESL classes and Kindergarten classrooms, as well as helping peers with a range of subjects. I always work with people on an individual level so I can get a real understanding of who they are and what they need, because I think its important to get to know people in order to understand how to help them best.

My job as a portland">tutor is not to help students complete the homework assignment, but to discover the tools that will help them ace the test and remember the lesson. I see every portland">tutoring opportunity not just as a work session, but as a real learning session. That being said, I am very honest, so if I don't think I can help the student, I will tell them right away. I will always do my best to aid any student and support them in whatever area they need the most (a particular subject, test taking tips, getting organized, understanding teacher expectations, etc) and if I am not prepared enough to do so, I want to make room for someone who is. I feel that education is one of the most important components of growing up and that we all have a duty to help youth learn and grow more and more.
