Fun Facts

Aloha, my name is Katja Berthold and I am from a tiny, beautiful city in the middle of the Pacific Ocean otherwise known as Honolulu, Hawai'i. I am currently the President and co-founder of Intinium, a new student organization on campus that empowers students to unleash their full potential and pursue personal projects.

About Me

I am currently a co-terminal student at Illinois Institute of Technology pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.E. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. I've been on the Dean's List for the past two and half years! When I graduate, I hope to either pursue a career in Patent Prosecution as an attorney, or as a systems engineer at a large aerospace company.

Experience

Last summer I interned at Michael Best, a law firm in the Midwest, as a patent engineer where I amended patent claims, strategized and drafted office action responses, and analyzed patent applications. This summer, I am interning at Lockheed Martin, an aerospace company, as a systems engineer and will get to work in the Space department!

Approach

I've always had a passion of helping others, and that's why I've been a tutor for so long. In high school, I created a student-run, tutoring center that was inspired by the the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) curriculum in Entrepreneurship. Since then, I've worked as a physics teaching assistant and as a peer tutor where I help students learn Physics, Mathematics, and Mechanical Engineering.
