Fun Facts

I love to travel, practice piano, dance, and read. I am fluent in Russian and I am currently working on both my French and Spanish skills. I am currently working at an international pro bono law firm focusing on post-conflict resolution and constitution building and I hope to go to law school in order to build a career in public international law.

About Me

I am currently a senior at the washington-university">George washington-university">Washington University with a passion for international affairs and political science. During the week you can find me in class, working on my thesis, or hitting the gym. On the weekends I could be at the nearest book store, tennis court, or somewhere halfway across the country.

During high school, I spent two years working on the pediatrics floor of the Stony Brook University Hospital. I played with the patients, as well as helped them with their daily homework assignments. After volunteering for the hospital, I worked in an after school program for underprivileged children by helping them with their homework, aiding in the understanding of certain topics, translating from English to simple Spanish, and helping them prepare for exams. Once I came to college, I volunteered for the DC Reads program and served as a student aid in both a 3rd grade and 4th grade class. I also worked as a teaching assistant for a political science professor at a university in Beijing, China. This past winter break, I volunteered with a school in New Orleans and worked with Habitat for Humanity.

Every time I sit down with a student, I make sure to take the time to have the student open up to me a little about their day and perhaps weekend plans. I have found that many students come into the room feeling very stressed from their days or pressured by their parents to do well. Therefore, I take a few moments to clear the more tense energy in the room with my own brief introduction and a fun fact about them. After this, I do not hesitate to delve straight into the material and see exactly what the student needs help in. Every student is different, so I take the time to figure out their learning style and then supplement it in future sessions by providing worksheets, videos or any other materials that might help the student excel.

I know that every child has the opportunity to excel in whatever they choose and I will do everything in my power to aid them
