Fun Facts

Three of my favorite hobbies are playing hockey for Drexel University, playing the guitar, and cooking. Since I started skating at the age of four, I never tried to ride a bike until I was 17! I am from Virginia and love to travel across the world. I have studied abroad in Ireland and plan to study in Spain next year.

About Me

I am a junior college student at Drexel University, Pennoni Honors College, majoring in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Organismal and Human Physiology and completing a Certificate for Medical Humanities. I was recently accepted to Drexel University College of Medicine through their early assurance program and aspire to study be a sports team physician for the Philadelphia Flyers. I currently have a 3.74 GPA. My hockey team awarded me the Hobey Baker Award for Exemplary Character and Sportsmanship.

In high school, i was a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society where I tutored other high school students in Spanish and math. I was also a mentor for the Cool Cats Special Youth Hockey, where I taught children with learning disabilities how to play hockey and interact with each other. During my sophomore year at Drexel, I continued my role as a mentor by mentoring freshmen in the Pennoni Honors College.

First, I like talking with my students about their interests in life, hobbies, and study habits. Second, I like to have the student explain what they know and do not know about the topic of interest (this is key to identify areas of improvement). Third, I like to create three goals with the student during the session (such as learn a topic of interest, make a study guide, and plan of action for the following week). Last but not least, the learning begins by reviewing and practicing the material, asking the student questions along the way, creating study tools such as mnemonics and flashcards, and relating the material to the student's life inside and out of the classroom.
