Fun Facts
My absolute passion in life is writing. Even though my career goal is to become an ob/gyn, I never want to stop twisting and churning ideas into stories and expressing myself through words; one day I hope to publish my own novels and poetry collections. I also love to craft, especially when it comes to creating my scrapbooks. Outside of the art world, I love nature--hiking and swimming!
About Me
I go to the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, and I will be a senior in Fall 2014. I'm majoring in English as well as molecular and cellular biology, with a minor in Spanish. I am hoping to go to medical school and become an ob/gyn, and I plan to never give up my dreams of becoming a writer.
For three years now, I have been chicago">tutoring grades K-5 with a program called America Reads America Counts. I dedicate seven hours a week to helping kids inside the classroom, with group activities, as well as outside the classroom, with one-on-one chicago">tutoring in various subjects that the teacher sees fit. I absolutely love seeing children in a focused environment because I truly believe that any learning experience will help them grow into beautiful, aspiring adults.
I believe that the two reasons kids are not properly learning material are either because they are not focused or because they actually do not understand. I try to gauge which one of the two applies to a certain child trying to learn a subject, and I either try to keep him or her on task or think of a different method of presenting material. I know very well that everyone learns by varied strategies; I myself can only remember things when I write them down. I provide a multitude of these strategies and am very keen on what is working and what is not.
