Fun Facts

I spent much of my childhood reading Harry Potter and solving math equation, hopefully I could become a mathematician someday who creates an equation describing magics. I went to Pacific University college, discovering myself love to teach and help people for a better life. The moment I translate a theoretical concept to real-life application and students said: “ Oh! That’s how it works” is really satisfied.

About Me

I am a recent chemistry graduate at Pacific University. My goal is to pursue an phD in chemistry, and work as professor and researcher. I did some research in computational chemistry, which I modeled a drug- protein interaction, and I love this topic. I enjoy working with people because It motivated me to think of a topic in multiple approaches so a person I talk to and I are in the same language. In addition, my priority is to ensure their academic success by promoting students’ problem solving.

Experience

Throughout college, I was a teaching assistant and a tutor in college physics and chemistry for three years. I worked in a classroom, helping groups of students set up lab activities and extract physical concepts from activities. I also tutored one-on-one, which I helped students answer homework question and prepare for exams. Additionally, I volunteered as a tutor for after-school math session at an elementary school and a high school for three months.

Approach

My tutoring approach is inspired by my general chemistry professors as they helped me visualize chemistry concepts better. My tutoring approach varies for each student. In the beginning, I observe students’ learning styles. As I work to build a tutoring relationship with students, I adjust my teaching style to ensure students comfortability and efficient communication between students and me. I also create an engaged environment that students apply their strength and motivation to study science.
