The university is part of the Colleges of the Fenway, a consortium of six neighboring Boston-based institutions of higher learning that collaborate to enhance student experiences through shared resources. Additionally, MCPHS has built strong relationships with many healthcare entities, offering students invaluable clinical experiences and professional opportunities in some of the top hospitals and research facilities in the region.
MCPHS provides its students with a dedicated faculty, many of whom are recognized professionals and practitioners in their fields. The faculty's commitment to students' success is exemplified through hands-on learning experiences, state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, and a low faculty-to-student ratio.
Founded in 1823 by 14 Boston pharmacists, MCPHS is the oldest institution of higher education in Boston and the second-oldest pharmacy college in the United States. Known for its academic rigor in healthcare and pharmaceutical sciences, MCPHS has grown significantly over the years. It now boasts over 7,000 students from diverse backgrounds, making it one of the largest healthcare-focused colleges in the country. Located in the heart of Boston's Longwood Medical and Academic Area, it is in proximity to renowned entities such as Harvard Medical School and Boston Children's Hospital. The university is home to the mascot, Johnny the Beagle, providing a spirited identity for its sports teams and community. MCPHS prides itself on notable alumni like George F. Archambault, known as the "father of consultant pharmacy," and takes special pride in its School of Pharmacy, which remains one of the most prominent colleges at MCPHS.
