Fun Facts

I am passionate now, as I have been my entire life, about ballet! I am obsessed with all things ballet, whether it be watching live, on YouTube, or in class, I never tire of talking about ballet. Besides being a beautiful art form, it also requires discipline and self-motivation, something that transfers to the academic classroom so well. I love dancers as students!

About Me

I became a teacher later in life because I wanted to spend my time doing something valuable and rewarding and teaching has given me an abundance of opportunities for both. I am a philomath (lover of learning) through and through and never waste an opportunity to learn something new. I like to share that passion and try to foster it with the students by making materials relevant to their own lives.

Experience

During my academic journey, I found myself tutoring my fellow students often. During my college years, I was allowed to tutor elementary students on a volunteer basis, to gain experience, but I found I enjoyed helping others catch up to their peers and help fill in gaps in knowledge. I find that students often become disinterested and disengaged when they feel they don't know the material. This can have a snowball effect as the material advances and it creates a

Approach

While teaching, I noticed that I could present materials to the students and would get limited engagement. If I presented the same material using technology, I would get nearly 100% engagement. I've started incorporating technology into most of my lessons. There are so many great resources available to teachers and students that drill information in a fun and engaging way. I like to learn as much as I can about the student's interests and passions and then cater the material to that child
