Fun Facts
I am a former gymnast and have coached gymnastics for over 5 years! In my free time, I love running and hiking, especially in Colorado. I recently ran my first half marathon, and I hope to run a full marathon sometime this year!
About Me
I am a senior Undergraduate student at Rice University, majoring in Sports Medicine and Exercise Physiology and minoring in Biochemistry and Cell Biology on the pre-medical track. I currently have an overall GPA of 3.91 and have scored a 518 on the MCAT. In high school, I scored a 1530 on the SAT, a 5 on AP Calculus, Statistics, Language/writing, and US History, and a 4 on AP Chemistry.
Experience
In my sophomore year of high school during the COVID-19 pandemic, I started a virtual, free tutoring platform to help families who were struggling with the transition to online schooling. Since then, in my college career, I have worked both as a Biology and Physics Teaching Assistant, where I collaborate with faculty and help students grasp difficult concepts. Additionally, I currently volunteer with PAIR Houston as a general and ESL tutor/mentor for international newcomer high school students.
Approach
I believe an effective approach involves creating a supporting and engaging learning environment. It is important to break down complex concepts into smaller, manageable parts while providing lots of positive reinforcement. Additionally, regularly checking for understanding and adapting the teaching methods to fit a student's learning style leads to better retention and deeper comprehension.
