About Me
Hi, My Name is Alyssa Litonjua. I am a highly passionate, effective communicator. I am entering my 2nd year of my Master's program at SF State. I plan on becoming a speech language pathologist working in the school districts.
Experience
All of my professional and volunteer experience has centered around working with children. I have cared for and supported infants (ages 5–12 months), toddlers, and children at the elementary and middle school levels. My responsibilities have included fostering social communication skills, providing academic tutoring, and assisting with homework. Additionally, I have experience working with school-aged children on the autism spectrum, assisting them with their language development.
Approach
As someone who has received the benefits from tutoring and worked with a wide range of children. I have noticed the positive effects of scaffolding, using the socio-cognitive method, and play-based learning with positive reinforcement within each method. I believe that as a child is learned a new concept, the process of scaffolding or providing temporary support, then gradually decreasing the support, is beneficial.
