Fun Facts

One thing most people don't know about me is that I love the arts! In my free time I love to sing, dance, paint, draw, and do anything else artistic. I also love cooking vegetarian food, playing with my dogs, and spending time with my friends. I hope to travel to every continent with my close friends and family someday because I love experiencing new things with the people I love most.

About Me

I am currently a junior at the University of California, Berkeley, and I am double majoring in Molecular Cell Biology and Practice of Art. Although I am fascinated by science, I try to stay balanced by keeping art in my life. After graduation, I plan on going to medical school, and I am hoping to enter the field of mobile medicine so I can provide quality health care to those in rural settings around the world.

At Berkeley, I participate in two student groups that center around mentorship and education, the Sage Mentorship Project and Project RISHI. Through Sage, I mentored a group of elementary students once a week and tutored each student individually in various subjects, and through Project RISHI I worked with village children in India to teach them English as their second language. I also worked at MetWest high school as an assistant math teacher in an Algebra I classroom. I am very excited for the opportunity to change even more lives by being in the Frog Tutoring family.

When I was young, I would always take apart electronics in my home so I could figure out how they worked from the inside, and I follow a similar approach when tutoring. I believe true mastery of a subject can only be achieved if one understands the mechanism behind the problem. The difference between "plants use sunlight to make energy" and "HOW do plants use sunlight to make energy" is the key to success. I always take the time to explain material thoroughly until I believe the student truly understands what they are studying. I am very adaptable and I adjust my teaching pace to make sure the student walks away confident in their knowledge.
