My favorite pass-time is America's 'favorite pass-time,' and by that I mean that I umpire softball! I got into it because my sister has played softball for as long as I can remember, so I grew up around the sport and really wanted to get to know the inner workings; to gain a better understanding. I have also spent time camping, fishing, and enjoying my all-time favorite outdoor activity: canoeing (I am proud to say I have never tipped a canoe). I hope that I can travel the world, as I enjoy traveling to 'new worlds.'

About Me

I am a junior Economics and Mathematics double major considering a minor in History at Capital University. Upon graduating from Capital University I would like to pursue a doctorate in Economics from, in an ideal world, the chicago">University of Chicago. My ultimate goal is to teach Economics in the university.

My first columbus">tutoring experience came when a friend approached me and asked for help in our 8th grade math class. I met with him once a week after school and it was quite rewarding to see him finally understand the math that had been giving him so much trouble. In my high school trigonometry class, when it was time to ask in-class questions on homework, I would field about half of the questions and assist the teacher in helping the class. I remain available to take questions from my classmates in college and help them through difficult topics from time to time.

My columbus">tutoring approach is based on the philosophy that: 'you can give a person a fish and they will eat for a day, but you can teach someone to fish and they will eat for a lifetime.' It is more important to guide a student to a greater understanding than it is to get past one homework assignment. A columbus">tutor is a catalyst for understanding, not for direct answers. The ultimate goal is to learn how to learn, basically, and know where one has weaknesses and how to overcome such obstacles.
