Fun Facts
I'm bad at everything I love to do! I'm not the best chess player, but I never turn down a game. I love to sing, and although I have a nice voice I'm quite tone deaf. I love, luv, lub to dance, however everyone laughs when I dance because my moves are almost 30 years old now! I love to play guitar, but I've yet to master those chords so I can't play any songs that anyone would recognize. That's ok because I make up my own. I refuse to not enjoy what I like just because someone else is better at.
About Me
I am a jack of all trades and a master of a few. I majored in English Rhetoric and Composition, which is sort of like studying the history of human interaction. I have 2 minors: one in Women's and Gender Studies and another in Spanish. If my education does tell you I am a certified nerd I will go ahead and openly admit it. In the class picture, I'm the one on the left proudly wearing a pocket protector.
Experience
I attended one of the largest schools in St. Louis, MO, which gave me the opportunity to study, research and teach with people from all over the world. I've taught courses in English Composition, Advanced Rhetoric and Composition, Business Writing, and Introduction to Women's and Gender Studies just to name a few. I have tutored in English, Statistics, Psychology, History, and Algebra. Working with Frog dallas">Tutoring is an opportunity for me to use my diverse experience to help students thrive.
Approach
I borrow from my experiences with bullying to help students find the courage and confidence to believe that they are capable of succeeding, no matter what their experience might lead them to believe. I seek to help students discover their strengths and map their personal learning style in order to turn these things into tools for success. Owning strengths helps learners face off with adversity, while coming to understand "how things work for me" gives learners an identity inside their studies.
