Fun Facts
Aside from my studies I enjoy playing basketball, the guitar, and working out at my local gym. I enjoy guitar most of all and I have been playing almost every day for the past 10 years.
About Me
I am a senior biology major at Drexel University. I am applying to medical school this year and I hope to get accepted to a school that can make me the best physician I can be.
Experience
I have been tutoring both my peers and younger students since I was in high school. I was a member of our peer tutoring program in high school for students enrolled in AP courses. I tutored AP Biology, Chemistry, Calculus, and Statistics. In college I have continued to tutor students enrolled in the freshman biology sequence. The sequence covers topics in genetics, cell biology, biochemistry, evolution, physiology, and more.
Approach
I believe that effective tutoring involves paying close attention to how the tutee thinks. Sometimes in larger classes, students aren't able to work one-on-one with instructors to work through new concepts. Tutoring gives the student a unique chance to focus on areas where understanding is lapsing and ask as many questions as possible.

This course covered the physiology of muscle contraction, blood pressure homeostasis, and the respiratory system. The course at Drexel was instructed by Dr. Mike O'Connor MD. PhD.
Anatomy Physiology II Tutoring
Anatomy & Physiology II grade at Drexel (Bio 203) - A+
This course covered the physiology of the renal system, the basal ganglia, function of the peripheral nerves, and homeostatic functions of the neuroendocrine system. The course was instructed by Dr. Monica Togna PhD.
Biochemistry Tutoring
Biochemistry - Drexel Course Code (Bio 311) Grade - A
This course covered biochemical pathways related to cellular metabolism. These include the classical cellular respiration pathways (Glycolysis, Krebs Cycle, & ETC) as well as gluconeogenesis, the pentose phosphate pathway & amino acid metabolism, as well as beta-oxidation of fats. The course was instructed by Dr. Robert Louden PhD.

Part of the regimen for high school pre-calculus was an intense focus on algebraic manipulation. This led to a better understanding and easier time in the course. I received a 5 (highest score) on my AP Calculus AB exam and received A's in the two calculus courses I took at Drexel.
Microbiology Tutoring
I have taken and received a grade of A in Drexel's core microbiology and microbiology lab courses. In addition, I received an A in a more advanced course called Microbial Pathogenesis which focused on mechanisms of disease for over 30 different microorganisms.

I have been playing guitar for almost 10 years. Though I have no formal education I have played with several groups in venues up to 150 people. I play blues, rock, jazz, and folk inspired music. I am competent in foundational techniques and basic concepts in music theory (Major & Minor Scales, Chord Scales, Relative Key, Intervals, Harmonies, etc.)
