Fun Facts
When time permits, I like to cook and concoct fancy dishes. But at most other times, I'm usually taking up some challenge that stretches me in order that I can grow. For example, I completed my undergraduate degree with a major in math and minors in computer science and economics in two and a half years. If interested, I can share more about how that was done and lessons I learned through that process.
About Me
I completed graduate coursework in scientific computing and math at Harvard University in 2012. Before that I earned a B.S in math with minors in comp science and economics at The College at Brockport, New York, where I was a recipient of a number of awards and a full scholarship. I've worked as a software development consultant. I'm currently moving towards finance, where there is an increasing need for my type of skills in programming and data science, and studying towards taking CFA exams.
Approach
Instead of just blurting out explanations, I often use a Socratic method in which I ask guided questions to engage the student and promote learning by discovery. But with each student, I'm always quick to gauge how effective this is and/or whether or not the student finds any particular approach helpful. I like one-on-one tutoring because I receive real-time feedback and get to adapt my tutoring approach to the specific needs of the student I'm working with at any given moment.
