Fun Facts
I have always loved reading and writing. One of my dreams is to write a successful novel series like Harry Potter or Percy Jackson. I was an athlete in school and also trained in classical/contemporary ballet. I love music and singing, and have placed in state competitions for solos.
About Me
I am a junior Psychology/ English major at the University of Texas Arlington, and a freshman Chemistry major at Tarrant County Community College. After graduating, I plan to teach English in Taiwan while completing my Chemistry degree and earning my PhD in Psychology. My goal is to work clinically with people diagnosed with psychotic disorders and Schizophrenia.
Experience
In high school I regularly tutored my peers in core subjects such as AP History, an underclassmen in areas they struggled. I also helped juniors prepare for the PSAT/ SAT/ ACT; and sophomores prepare for their STAAR exams at the end of the year. In college I regularly lead study sessions and edited essays. I also worked for Arlington ISD as an AVID tutor and as a private tutor for two siblings.
Approach
It is my belief that every child is intelligent and has potential for greatness. As a teacher or tutor it is my responsibility to facilitate that intelligence, and aide every student on their educational journey. The most important aspect of this is maintaining a positive attitude and encouraging students even when they struggle. It's also essential to learn study skills and time management!

College Algebra is essentially a review of Algebra II, Geometry, and Pre-Calculus. I regularly tutored these subjects in AVID classrooms when working for Arlington ISD.
English Tutoring
One of my majors is English. I have taken an assortment of English classes, including but not limited to: British Literature, Chinese Literature, Creative Writing, and Argumentative Writing.
History Tutoring
I successfully passed the AP World History and AP US History exams with at least a 3 in both. In addition to that, I never earned below an A while taking the classes in high school.
Political Science Tutoring
I have taken Federal Government, and State & Local. In both classes I earned at least an A-, and tutored several students in my class. Understanding the political climate and the factors that alter it, helps me gain a broader understanding of how legislature impacts the mental health field.
Algebra II Tutoring
Algebra II was one of the common subjects that I tutored students in during the past year. I also took the class in high school and maintained a B+ to A average.
AP English Tutoring
I maintained an A to A+ average while taking the class. I tutored other students that also took the class and provided numerous essay samples. I also coached students in Arlington ISD in academic writing.
AP History Tutoring
I maintained a B+ to A average in AP World History, and an A average in AP US History. In addition to that I also made 3's on both AP exams. In both classes I tutored other classmates and lead group study sessions
Geometry Tutoring
While working in Arlington ISD I tutored several students in Geometry. I also tested out of this class in high school and moved on to Algebra II.
Psychology Tutoring
I took AP Psychology in high school and maintained an A in the class. I am also majoring in Psychology and have taken several advance level classes
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I tested out of reading classes while in school. I also scored between 680 and 720 in the reading section of the SAT.
SAT Verbal/Writing Tutoring
I scored a 670, 690, and 710 on the Writing portion of the SAT. My essay scores were between 9 and 10 each time I took the test
Spanish I Tutoring
I took Spanish I, II, and III in high school and maintained an A average in all classes. I can also fluently read and write in Spanish. My conversational skills are intermediate, meaning I can understand what I am being told, and can respond in most cases, but I am not fluent.
Homework Coach Tutoring
I have worked with several young students with organizing their homework and understanding the basic concepts of subjects.
ACT English Tutoring
My composite score on the ACT was 27. I scored a 28 on the writing portion. I also scored a 9 on my essay
ACT Math Tutoring
My ACT composite score was a 27. My score on the math portion was 24.
ACT Reading Tutoring
My composite ACT score was 27. My individual reading score was 28.
ACT Science Tutoring
My composite ACT score was 27. My individual science score was 21.
SAT Math Tutoring
Last year I tutored a student in Arlington ISD who scored poorly on the math section of the SAT. After working with her two days a week for a month, her individual math score raised 30 points.
STAAR Reading Tutoring
When the STAAR test was introduced, I took an in class practice test with the sophomores I worked with. I only missed two questions on the practice test and then began to tutor the sophomores to help them prepare for the real test.
