About Me
Degrees in Electrical Engineering and science/texas/dallas">Computer Science, spent 35+ years as Engineer in Telecommunications and Defense industries in N. Texas. Married with 2 grown children, lived in Plano for 30 years.
Experience
By mentoring co-workers over the years, developed an ability to explain technical concepts in understandable terms others could understand. I also gained a great deal of experience teaching children, ages 5 to 18, about sports. Spent many hours teaching girls (ages 8-18) to play fast pitch softball at a high level. Prepared over 40 players for their respective HS programs. Gained much insight about what are effective approaches to teaching.
Approach
In my opinion, an effective teacher must gain trust of the student(s) before real learning can be achieved. Discovering what a student understands about a subject is very important for setting a forward path of learning. Fundamentals are crucial, especially in the technical subjects. Positive reinforcement, encouragement, repetition and overcoming obstacles give students confidence.
