Fun Facts
I am originally from Kentucky so I love exploring the tourist sights around Philadelphia. Any time I have a chance, you will find me exploring a museum or historical sight. I love dancing and was captain of the dance team in high school. I also love reading and writing and am working on a novel in my limited spare time. I also sing and play music for fun. I play the ukulele and used to play drums in my church praise band.
About Me
I am a graduate student at Widener University working towards my Master's of Education. I received my Bachelor's degree from the louisville">University of Louisville in '14 studying Middle/Secondary Education with a concentration in English Language Arts and Literature. I have my teaching certification in KY for English grades 5-12. My ultimate goal is to work for a Department of Education to work towards improving public schools.
Experience
As a member of the National Honor Society, I began tutoring in high school, doing reading, writing, and homework help. In college, between visiting schools for student teaching and practicum, I tutored students elementary level all the way to adults in a variety of subjects, including English, Algebra, Spanish, and test prep for the ACT, SAT, and GED. After graduating college, I have taught English and creative writing to 9th and 10th graders, and literacy to elementary age students.
Approach
During my time in the education program, I realized that the best way to teach or tutor depends on the student. It is important to get to know the student, including learning their interests and hobbies outside of school, as well as their strengths, weaknesses, and learning style. This way, I can tailor the tutoring lessons towards the specific way your child learns, as well as make the content relevant to their interests outside of school as much as possible so that learning can be fun!

I earned my bachelors in Middle/Secondary Education and took all required education courses. I am currently working on my Masters in Education. I also earned a passing score on the Principles of Learning and Teaching Praxis.
