Fun Facts
Hello my name is Fernando Ruiz and the first fun fact is that I know what it means to study. I failed a grade in elementary, so I decided to dedicate myself to school. I dedicated myself tremendously that I graduated as the smartest hispanic male of my class in 2012. The class was of about 600 students. My dad is kitchen manager at OASIS and I love to go work with him from time to time.
About Me
The university I currently attend is The University of Texas at Arlington.
I am giving it my all so that in 2016 I can double major in Spanish and Criminal Justice. My current GPA is a 3.48. I plan to work for a lawyer or get a teacher certificate and be a Spanish Teacher. I would love to be a police officer but I tend to be to nice.
When I was in high school I was part of PALS (Peer Assistance Leadership Service.) I was able to mentor two students every semester. Every Friday we would go to a Kindergarten class and read them books. The kids would scream my name as soon as I walked in. I was also given the opportunity to be a Teacher for 5th grade in a Dallas Recreation center. We would teacher our class more than the basics in order for them to succeed in the STAR test. I enjoy teaching Spanish to my fellow classmates in UTA.
Given the fact that I failed 1st grade I know how important it is to study. I know it takes time, but having a study method is not impossible. I want to help the kids understand that procrastination will be very tempting, but nothing good comes out of it. Since I have taught 5th grade in the summer I know not all students learn at the same time. What I did was give the students who knew the material some harder questions and I would allow them to work with other students who understood the material. With my students who did not understand the material, I would work one in one with him. I think that we should help them understand the material, but not give them the answer right away. I enjoy teaching and if its one on one even better.
