When I was twelve years old, I discovered the Harry Potter series, and ever since then, I have been a huge dork and who loves to read. About Me

I graduated from the memphis">University of Memphis in May 2011 with a Master's Degree in English. While I love literature and writing, my first passion is teaching. My passion for teaching and desire to learn have allowed me to discover fun, innovative, and effective ways of instructing my students.

Because of my desire to become a successful teacher, I have spent the past few years choosing employment opportunities that would allow me to develop my skills as a teacher and a memphis">tutor. Two years ago, I began working with a non-profit organization called the Peer Power Foundation. As a member of this team, I have tutored one-on-one and in with large groups of at-risk youth in Memphis City Schools in Language Arts, reading-comprehension/tennessee/memphis">Reading comprehension, writing, African American Literature, and even Algebra I. I have also had the opportunity to instruct my scholars in Peer Power's ACT preparatory course. As a graduate student at the memphis">University of Memphis and as a recent graduate, I have been, and am currently an instructor of Freshman composition and Literature.

In a classroom of 25 students, it is nearly impossible for a teacher to diagnose and address specific student strengths and weaknesses. As a memphis">tutor working with one or two, or even three students, however, it is much easier to figure out exactly what each student needs and find a way to meet those needs. I believe that my job as a memphis">tutor is to do just that. I also feel that as a memphis">tutor, I have the opportunity to get to know my students better and develop activities and a style of instruction that suits their interests as well as their needs. I believe that finding out what my student likes to do and wants to achieve personally, gives me the opportunity to tailor lesson plans so that material is fun and relevant to their lives and personality.
