Fun Facts

I have ran three marathons in my life and never plan to stop. I love running. It keeps me sane in times of stress and helps me gather my thoughts at the end of the day.
I also love to paint. I decided not to pursue it professionally because I was scared being forced to paint for a grade would take away the fun from it, but it is a favorite past-time.
I am very family oriented.

About Me

College was never an option in my family - it was a mandate. I am a first generation college student and hope to set the path of the younger generation of my family. I want them to look up to me and say "Wow, if he could do it, why can't I?" I first came to the states when I was four and learned English pretty quickly. I have always lived in the Fort Worth area and attended a technical high school where my cluster major was Education and Training. I ran cross country, lost 80 lbs and because of that declared Nutrition Sciences as my major.

I have experience tutoring both Elementary School children in a school setting and one on one in a high school setting. I am a Bill Gates Millennium Scholar, and am a Nutritional Science major on the didactic track for dietetics. I hope to graduate with a BS and as a registered dietician. I plan to receive my Masters at Berkley University, however I am still not sure where I want to get my PhD, although I will eventually recieve it! It is just too early to plan that much ahead...

I like focusing both on strengthening what the student already knows and improving what they need help on simultaneously so that the student does not stress out. Although I am the tutor, I like becoming almost-friends with my students. I do not want the teacher persona because I am afraid that it will cause the student to shut down and stop interacting with me. Yet, I still keep it professional. I demand respect at a comfortable degree.
