Fun Facts

If you talk to me for five minutes about food, you'll probably figure out that I'm vegan. I love cooking and baking food so delicious that every single person who tries it is blown away. Being vegan, and writing about veganism, is an important way for me to promote a more sustainable and peaceful world for everyone.

About Me

I am a graduate of Colorado College (biology major, chemistry minor, with strong interests in the social sciences) currently studying at the Community College of Denver. I am applying to nursing school and hope to be a public health nurse for the Nurse-Family Partnership, an organization that provides prenatal and early childhood home visitation services for new, low-income parents. Having this career would help me use science to further social justice.

As a member of my college's Quantitative Reasoning Center, I provided drop in one-on-one denver">tutoring to my peers, assisted in lab, graded exams, and ran review sessions for "historically difficult" classes such as biochemistry and organic chemistry. I have tutored at the high school level (in chemistry, biology, and math) on both a volunteer and paid basis. I also ran science demonstrations and discussions for elementary school students through the "Biosciences Club."

My main goal as a denver">tutor is to help students solidly learn the material so they have a foundation for more advanced classes later. I aim to make the subject fun and relatable, so that students will be more motivated to study than they would be simply by the grade. It's important to me to use clients' time efficiently, so I begin a session by assessing what a student already knows and building on that. Each session is a mix of me explaining concepts that are confusing, the student explaining complex concepts back to me, and both of us practicing problem sets together.
