I am the second oldest sibling out of 5, so I've always felt it was important to be a good role model behind my older sister. When I was young, I always enjoyed taking electronics around the house apart to see how they worked. I never feel comfortable staying in the same place, so leaving Houston to attend school in San Antonio felt natural to me. In my free time I like to discover new music.

About Me

My name is Brian Pauls. finished at The University of Texas San Antonio with my bachelor's and plan on attending pharmacy school in the next year. I have experience as a teacher's assistant for Biosciences I from when I was a senior at UTSA. I really enjoy explaining concepts in the sciences and always feel you can never know too much about any topic. Knowledge and learning is a growing process that I hope to inspire others to pursue.

I was an undergraduate teacher's assistant at UTSA for two semesters. While employed as a TA, I was responsible for holding 1 hour long sessions with 20 - 30 students from lecture where the book knowledge they gained in class is supplemented with case studies where they could apply what they know.

(There wasn't any room for it above but on my Sept 2013 PCAT I made a 91 Percentile Score in Biology and 90 Percentile Score in Chemistry.)

I feel like giving simplified examples is usually a good way to lay down a foundation of understanding a concept. Oddly, when I talk about chemistry and biology I like to use personification as an approach to explaining the why behind things. I feel that when you create an environment where the student isn't intimidated by the apparent complexity of a subject, they feel more relaxed in talking about it and generating intuition in it.
