About Me
I have an MA in the Humanities from the chicago">University of Chicago, where I studied history, journalism, anthropology, and musicology. I have a bachelor's in Music Education from Appalachian State University. In addition to being a very capable academic memphis">tutor, I am also a musician and music teacher. I love to learn and teach! I am to inspire my students to the same deep love of learning I have discovered within myself.
I have fourteen years experience teaching a variety of subjects to people of all ages. I have tutored in every subject up to middle school, and am an exceptional memphis">tutor of the humanities and social science for high school and beyond.
My memphis">tutoring approach is quite methodical. First I make sure the student has mastered the foundational knowledge required to master the concepts that we are learning about. I break everything down into easy to understand components and make sure these are firmly grasped before dealing with more complex concepts. I use the Socratic method to interrogate the student's understanding and cultivate a deep mastery of the subject. I try to relate each assignment to its real world significance. Above all, I aim to inspire student to a real interest in the subject matter, because that is the best kind of motivation.
